GA (georgian agression)
stopping for fuel in southern georgia, just near the border of florida on route to jacksonville, i went to use the restroom and found a huge amount of racially angry text scrawled on the walls, various dispensers, and mirror.
hate just seethed from the broken comments, slurs, and put-downs both toward blacks and whites. it was somewhat disturbing and socially disheartening until a lanky black man approached me out by the fuel pumps commenting on my motorcycle and breaking into a great, albeit short, conversation on hotrods, bikes and joys of travelling.
in a more ideal world, solutions to our social ills would start with friendly conversations just like that.
